Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary provides a safe home to home to 48 orphaned chimpanzees located 23 km offshore from Entebbe.The Ngamba island comprises of a 100km with 98 km forest island where chimpanzees are free to roam.The Ngamba chimpanzee sanctuary projects is managed by the Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC)

Ngamba island offers visitors a perfect opportunity to watch chimpanzees close by, in their habitat.This is a fantastic adventure worth visiting when in Uganda
Ngamba island in partnership with Wild Frontiers offers scheduled visit to the Chimpanzee island where visitors get to see chimps up close

Visiting Ngamba Island

Half chimpanzee excursion

Half Day speed boat tour costs USD110.00 per person inclusive of return boat transfers and island entrance fees- subject to minimum numbers on board and residence category
Timings – Morning viewing 9.00am -1.00pm
Afternoon viewing 12.45pm- 5.00pm
Speed boat journey time approximately 50 minutes each way on good weather

Chimpanzee viewing

You will view either a morning or afternoon feeding, of the chimpanzees from the visitors platform area along the edge of the sanctuary fence, hear an informative talk by sanctuary staff, enjoy lunch (optional extra for $15 p/p on full day trips), swimming on the equator, viewing a neighbouring fishing village, bird watching, other wildlife encounters, or just sunbathe and relax.
